David A. Greuner, MD, FACS Dr. David Greuner is a board certified and fellowship trained surgeon, and has been involved in medical relief brigades for years. He is the surgical director and founder of NYC Surgical Associates, a multi-specialty surgical practice in the NYC metro area. He realized early on with medial relief efforts, that a tremendous amount of organization, funding, and reliable teamwork is key to the adequate functioning of these surgical teams, and a deficit in any of these issues significantly impairs productivity. He felt so strongly about these issues, that he started NYC Surgical Cares, an organization funded for the most part by NYC Surgical Associates, to be able to address all these issues in a reliable and dependable fashion. In addition to global outreach, Dr. Greuner also has an interest in providing medical care to the underserved populations of New York City, and provides pro bono medical screening and surgical care at regular intervals for these populations.
Adam Tonis, DC
Dr. Adam Tonis is the administrative director and co-founder of NYC Surgical Associates and together with Dr. Greuner formed NYC Surgical Cares as a way to give back to the many communities in need worldwide.
He is adept and keeping the many moving parts of a busy non-profit organization running smoothly, as well as the intricacies of coordinating donated time and supplies to typically very tight scheduling allowances, and stringent requirements.
Over the past 20 years Dr Tonis has been involved in significant charitable donations of his professional time. Going monthly to the Hale House Shelter and treating patients from infants to adolescents while Mother Hale was running this amazing shelter was quite fulfilling and showed him how helping those less fortunate is a win for all involved.
Serving the NYC area post the tragic events of September 11 made him understand the sacrifices we all must make at times. He became a doctor to help people and there is never a better use of his skill sets or resources then helping those in the most need at their most vulnerable time. Co-founding this charity has allowed him the platform to continue doing this and serving humanity on a greater level.
